Who We Are
One man, one machine, and a straight answer.
J Schleis Services is Justin Schleis, out of Manitowoc, WI. It is a new company — started in 2026 — and it exists because of a gap Justin kept running into: there are not enough contractors in this part of the state doing forestry mulching and habitat work, and landowners are sitting on projects nobody will come do.
He sat in on a round table about red pine reforestation, heard the same thing from every direction, and bought the equipment to go fill it.
What that means for you is simple. The person who walks your property is the person who cuts it. There is no salesman, no crew lead relaying instructions, and no office in between. You tell Justin what you want left standing, and he is the one standing at the controls.
What We Do

Private landowners, farms, hunting land and public parcels. Every job starts with a walk of the property, and nothing gets cut that you did not agree to.
Forestry Mulching
Brush and saplings ground into mulch where they stand. No burn pile, no hauling, no torn-up ground.
Land Clearing & Skid Steer
Building sites, driveways and fence lines cleared, stumped and rough graded with our own trucks and trailers.
Invasive Species & Brush
Buckthorn, honeysuckle and autumn olive cut out mechanically so native ground gets light again.
Habitat Restoration
Old fields, closed-in woodlots and reforestation sites prepared to your plan or your forester’s.
Hunting Land & Trails
