Land Clearing & Skid Steer Services

Some jobs need more than a mulching head. A building site has to come down to dirt. A new driveway needs a route cut and rough graded. A fence line needs the stumps out, not just the tops off. That is bucket and grapple work, and it is the other half of what this business does.

The equipment is a skid steer with the attachments to match the job — bucket, grapple, mulching head — plus chainsaws, a chipper and the trucks and trailers to move it all. We own the hauling, which means scheduling your job is one phone call, not a chain of subcontractors waiting on each other.

Most of what we clear in Manitowoc, Kewaunee and Brown counties sits on heavy clay, and clay does not forgive being worked wet. We will tell you honestly if your site should wait two weeks or wait for frost. A cleared lot with six inches of rut across it costs you more to fix than the clearing did.

J Schleis Services is Justin Schleis — one owner, one machine, and no crew to relay your instructions through. The person who walks the property with you is the person running the mulcher. That is the whole pitch, and on this kind of work it is worth more than it sounds: land clearing goes wrong when somebody cuts what you meant to keep.

We are fully insured (general liability, certificate on request) and the work carries a 2-year workmanship warranty. We are a new company — started in 2026 — and we would rather tell you that than have you find out. What we will not do is take a deposit for work the ground is not ready for, or quote you an acreage rate over the phone that turns out to be wrong once we see it.
